“Kieler Woche” is the biggest yearly sailing event in the world. Since almost 130 years it takes place every year in June in the bay of Kiel in northern Germany. During this time, you can watch majestic sailing ships from all over the world accompanying the regattas throughout the bay. For a change, we used the Skink Pinhole Pancake with a photon lens, the zone sieve “medium glow”, which adds a dreamy glow to the sails of the windjammers which are slowly passing by.
for this still life with Nigerian Ibeji figures the Olympus Pen E-P1 with Skink Pinhole Pancake and zone sieve “impressionist” was used.
The image is slightly under-exposed to allow the highlights to stand out. Ambient light coming through the window was sufficiently bright and no additional flash light was needed.
An attempt to create a still life zone plate photo in subdued ambient light – no studio setting. The plastic monsters were sitting on a shelf, poorly lit with light from above. The pinhole equipped Leica opened its shutter for about one minute to rapture the scene. Those are the moments where a wire release cable is really useful.Camera: Leica M
Lens: Skink Pinhole Pancake with Zone Sieve “Impressionist”
with a focal length of 39mm this camera produces full 6×12 images with 119° angle of view. Six images fit on one 120 medium format roll film. The camera is using a laser-drilled pinhole, the same as those used for the Skink Pinhole Pancake. The apertures are exchangable. Besides pinhole aperture, this camera also takes zone plates or zones sieves (photon lenses).
